We are well into the 2010 boating season already and we still have a lot of boats in the yard. Parking this year is very limited due to the bridge construction so please get your boats in the water. Also in regards to parking please be considerate when parking your vehicle and ask your family and guests to do the same. Don’t leave your vehicle taking up 2 and three spaces. If you’re going away for a few days please park on the bridge. Don’t park in places that are obviously not parking spots and make it very difficult for others to get around. There is usually plenty of room on the bridge and we have plenty of dock carts to bring stuff to your boats if needed. If necessary to park in front of boats, trailers or yard trucks please check with someone or keep yourself or access to your vehicle available in case we are launching or hauling. Parking in front of the boat ramp is never an option and seems obvious but there have been many occasions where we had to hunt down the owner of a vehicle blocking the ramp. Lastly if you see an area coned or blocked off it doesn’t mean to move the cones and park there anyway, chances are we are launching or hauling or something so go park somewhere else out of the way. Also remember we are all responsible for the upkeep of our moorings. The docks should be kept tidy, any spills or debris should be cleaned up. When you’re washing your boat take a few extra minutes and clean your dock area. Also the walkway under the bridge to E dock needs to be cleaned frequently due to the birds and the bridge construction. There is a hose right there, take a turn washing it down. The same goes for the yard, dispose of your trash properly. We are constantly finding trash and empty cans around the yard and in the dock carts; there are dumpsters and trash cans in the yard for your use.
